The Institute offers a range of classes to target issues commonly associated with stress, including, but not limited to:
- Anxiety and Worry
- Chronic Pain
- Tension Headaches
- Hypertension
- Chronic medical conditions
- Anger
- Impulsive speaking and/or behavior
- Parenting Challenges
- Sleep disturbance
Mindfulness was first brought into mainstream medicine by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn who defined it as paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.
Whenever we bring awareness to what we directly experience via our senses to our environment and bodies, or our state of mind via our thoughts and emotions, we are being mindful. A growing body of research increasingly indicates that when we train our brains in mindfulness practices, the brain changes in ways to reduce stress reactivity that overwhelms the mind and body.
We all naturally possess the capacity for mindfulness. However, modern life does not frequently lend itself to a relaxed attention to the present. Fortunately, mindfulness becomes more readily available to us when we practice on a regular basis. The Two Rivers Mindfulness Institute offers guidance in how one can consistently practice mindfulness and embody it in daily life. The various programs and classes provided by the institute have the intention of allowing people to tailor the practices to their unique lives.

Testimonials
“The course taught me to not only do but to be. Be in the moment, slow things down and live the moment, good or bad. Life is not a race and I was always looking to the future (with anxiety or judgement as to what I perceived was going to happen) and not living the moment fully. I have become better at being.”
“This is hands-down the single best thing I’ve ever done for myself and I am incredibly grateful for all that I learned. I am really looking forward to building on the practices going forward.”
“I’ve become more self aware of my emotions and responses, also when I’m feeling stressed I know I can always turn to the practice of meditation, even honing in on my breath for a couple minutes, to come back to the present.”
“I’m using parts of what I’ve learned daily, and often in the moment. I’ve also learned that I can effectively be still for longer periods of time. That doesn’t mean I’m not inclined to wiggle occasionally. I’m actually counting on the depth and wisdom of mindfulness, as I continue, to be truly life-changing.”
