mPEAK: Mindful Performance Enhancement, Awareness & Knowledge

$400 for Entire Course

The next mPEAK group will begin on Wednesday, January 19th from 6:00-8:30pm.  The course will run for 8 consecutive Wednesdays and include one Saturday six-hour retreat on Saturday 2/26.  The course will be held live online.  Zoom link will be provided to participants prior to the start of the program.

Participants in the mPEAK course will learn mindfulness practices aimed at enhancing performance both in one’s professional and personal life.  This course was originally created by psychologists and neuroscientists at UCSD in collaboration with the US Olympic BMX team.  It was adapted from the highly researched Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course (MBSR) and includes mindfulness practices with empirical evidence supporting their effectiveness in improving psychological and physical functioning.  Through UCSD, mPEAK is now provided to numerous organizations in which performance under stress is expected, including police departments, the Navy Seals, and The Department of Homeland Security, among others.  mPEAK combines mindfulness exercises with elements of positive psychology, neuroscience, and the science of resilience. From corporate executives, to first responders, to athletes, to parents, mPEAK is for anyone whose performance matters. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop greater focus and concentration
  • Learn to foster conditions for “flow states” during performance events and everyday life
  • Learn to be present to the process of performing while aiming for values based goals. 
  • Practice responding wisely and courageously to stress rather than reacting out of fear
  • Develop resilience by learning how to be with emotionally difficult or physically painful experiences rather than “white knuckling” through them or avoiding them. 
  • Leverage personal strengths and stretch your personal edges without giving up or burning out
  • Develop a shift from a critical to a compassionate inner voice
  • Process and learn from inevitable mistakes and failures, rather than be thrown by them.

Through the Two Rivers Mindfulness Institute, you can engage with the same mPEAK curriculum and practices that the UCSD mPEAK team has provided to the various branches of the military, law enforcement, corporations, and Olympic athletes.  The class is suitable for those with no prior experience with mindfulness meditation, as well as for long term practitioners of mindfulness.
